On Fridays, I’ll be sharing some of my favorite spots — both close to home and from travels abroad. Little places that have left a mark, made me slow down, or just made me smile. Nothing fancy, just real favorites.
This week’s Friday Favorite? A slow morning at Jacksonville Beach.
Jacksonville Beach is one of those places that just hits right. It’s super close to the city, but still holds on to that easygoing beach-town vibe — the kind of place that feels familiar and relaxed without trying too hard.
My favorite time to visit isn’t during summer — just a personal thing. It is a Florida beach after all, and I’m not really into the whole packed-sand scene. I like it best when it’s more laid back, when mornings are quieter and it feels like the beach is all yours for a bit.
I usually stay at the Hampton Inn Oceanfront, which is right on the beach. One of my favorite rituals is waking up early, grabbing a cup of coffee from the hotel lobby (which is always on point), and heading straight to the beach to catch the sunrise. Barefoot, hoodie on, no rush.
There’s something about watching the world wake up with your toes in the sand and a warm drink in hand. It’s simple. Familiar. And honestly, my favorite kind of peace.
